Sunday 15th January Morning Message

Sunday 15th January Morning Message

As we begin another New Year together I am very conscious that many of us long to be the people God created us to be. Ephesians 4:1 refers to us living lives that are worthy of our calling and what a calling we have received!

We are sons and daughters of the King of Kings, brothers and sisters of Jesus our Saviour so the stakes are high. So with that in mind we are going to look at the commandments God gave His people, which we have called, ‘Rules to live by.’

As we study together we need to keep in mind that Jesus has satisfied the law, because we never could, and as a result we live under a new covenant, the covenant of Grace. Grace simply means … ‘all of God you’ll ever need, for every situation you’ll ever face’.

I love that quote, it speaks graphically of our Saviour’s great love for us … I love this verse too … ‘I can do everything through him who gives me strength.’ Phil 4.13 which speaks about the power each of us have received through the indwelling Holy Spirit

We live under grace and have been given all the power we will ever need, the question of course is what will we do with God’s grace and power? This speaks of choices, the day to day decisions that determine whether we are growing closer to God or growing cold. Rick Warren writes these challenging words : Living the rest of your life for the glory of God will require a change in your priorities, your schedule, your relationships, and everything else.  It will sometimes mean choosing a difficult path instead of an easy one.

So that is the challenge we will face square on … What adjustments am I prepared to make to nudge me closer to being the person God created me to be.

I hope you’ll join us for the journey

All the best

Dave
