I like perfume and my favourite is lily of the valley. Like many children I used to make my own from flower petals, mostly roses. At the end of Exodus ch. 30 there is a recipe for perfumed oil. It was to be used exclusively for the worship of God. In Corinthians we read that we,the followers of Jesus, are the fragrance of Christ to God and to those around us.
”For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing “ 2 Cor. Ch.2 v.15.
As Paul says. “ Who is equal to such a task”. V. 16
To be the fragrance of Christ, to be Jesus to those around us, we have to spend time in His presence. Not only in personal prayer and intercession, important though that is, but enjoying His company and basking in His love.
Some of us have more time for this just now.
As Psalm 37 says
“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart “
May God bless us all in these strange times.
