Thought for the day

“Come to me all of you who are weary and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls...”
Matt. 11.28-30

What comfort this gentle invitation brings into a world so full of weariness.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the many who are weary through grieving; who are suffering hardships; those exhausted through their dedicated and compassionate care of others ; those who are isolated and anxious; and those wearied through constant uncertainty.

What reassurance and encouragement the words from Isaiah give:

“The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary…those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40.11

By keeping Jesus at the very centre of our lives every moment in every situation; by trusting in Him with all our heart and following His ways not our own; by constantly turning to Him in prayer to seek His help and guidance, by listening for His voice and obeying Him; by loving one another; we will find rest for our souls in Him.

But how do we reach all those in the world who don’t know Him or have turned away from Him?  Let’s pray that Father God will give us eyes to see how we can turn the many challenges of COVID-19 into opportunities to reach out and tell the peoples of the world of His great love for them.

God bless and keep you safe
