Thought for the day

Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

As far as the coronavirus tunnel is concerned, I’m not sure there is yet! We are definitely moving in the right direction but I don’t think it’s at all clear how long the tunnel will be or even what the end of the tunnel will look like.

God’s timing is perfect though. He is not bound by time like we are – a concept that is extremely difficult for our finite minds to comprehend. When we go through our own personal ‘tunnels’, we can sometimes feel overwhelmed because nothing makes sense and we can feel a bit in the dark as to God’s purpose for our lives. We can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

However, if you think about walking through a tunnel, you don’t actually need to be able to see the light at the end of it, you only need to be able to see where to put your next step.

Psalm 119 v 105

‘Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path’

God’s word is a lamp for our feet, providing the light on our path so that we can just take one step at a time. God will lead us through the difficult seasons in our lives – we just have to trust. And pray!

‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.’
Prov 3 v5-6

Jesus says in John 8 v 12

‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’

Psalm 27 v 1

The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?

God bless
