Thought for the day

The Apostle Paul, urging the Ephesians not to be discouraged, tells them of his prayer for them:

“I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources, He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is. Now all glory to God who is able, through His mighty power at work in us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."   Ephesians 3.14-18

How blessed we are that we know of God’s great love for us and of His presence and peace in our hearts.   We pray for all those suffering grief and terrible hardships just now, that they too will know His presence and the comfort only He can bring.

At these times of  self-isolating and social distancing when we can feel helpless and uncertain, how reassuring it is to remind ourselves that we are not alone and though not in our own strength, through God’s power working in us, we are able to do far more than we can imagine.

It is at times of crisis and change that many who don’t know Christ turn to Him in prayer and we see this happening at present in different ways through various forms of technology.  Let’s pray that this pandemic will be a time when we see many truly turning to Christ and inviting Him into their hearts for ever.

With love and every blessing
